How to use AI art to create stunning portraits with just one tap

It’s pretty much impossible not to have heard of or seen AI art, or artificial intelligence art, somewhere on social media lately. That’s even more true if you’re into aesthetic editing, graphic design and other artistic outlets. It’s the hot topic of the moment! 

The wonders of AI technology as a whole are beyond imagination, and we’re currently collectively mesmerized by it. At the same time, we start to explore ways to use the new tools to our advantage. And to do that, we need to get more familiar with them.

Within all that AI has to offer, AI art definitely stands out. So let’s talk about what AI art basically is and what this technology can bring us in terms of creativity in photo editing. Spoiler alert: it’s a lot! And I’m loving everything about it!

What is AI?

According to specialized website TechTarget artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. Humans basically train machines to think and learn like humans by “feeding” lots and lots of information to it. This is called machine learning, and you’ve probably heard of it before.

The amount of data and information provided is huge. So from that “training” and based on aaaall that dada learned about us humans, the machine is able to provide extremely reliable answers and solutions to anything we ask. All that in a very, very short time, of course!

That’s just the gist of it, though. I definitely suggest reading more about how the technology works if you’re interested, from sources that will give you the expert view on this tech.

What is the AI art thing everyone is using?

We’ve been using AI technologies for a while now, without paying too much attention to it. Many softwares, websites, aps and social media have adopted its tools in different ways throughout the years. So don’t think artificial intelligence is a new thing!

It has become super trendy, though, in the last few months, thanks to softwares and apps that provide its technology in an accessible way. All of a sudden, lots of platforms started implementing these innovations into their tools and it became super easy to use. 

And one of the hottest trends that erupted thanks to artificial intelligence resources is AI art. For only a few dollars, or for free in some cases, you can generate amazing works of art that are 100% digitally generated. Apps like Lensa and Facetune have helped popularize the trend. That’s why so many people were posting and sharing their stunning artistic portraits everywhere!

Text to image vs image to image

AI art not only is super interesting and impressive, it’s also a lot of fun to use. You must have heard by now about “text to image” and “image to image” as two popular models to generate AI art.

Just as their names imply, each one will create results based on what type of content you provide. If you want to describe a scene with words, the technology will generate images that match your description based on text. In the “Image to image” model, the starting point is an existing image of your choice. Different versions of it will be generated, in the most amazing styles you can possibly imagine. It’s fantastic!

How to make AI art?

Like I mentioned above, AI art has become popular and accessible, and it’s available through different websites and apps. 

Here are a few examples I’ve generated using my favorite image editing app, BeautyPlus.

How to use AI Art Painting in BeautyPlus and why it is amazing?

The BeautyPlus app interface is super intuitive, so you’ll quickly know how to generate AI art just by navigating the app. Right in the home screen you’ll see the option to start creating your images, and all you need to do is follow the steps from there.

Here’s an easy to follow tutorial to help you out:

1. Go to the AI Art panel and choose a style.

2. Upload an image and wait 5-10 seconds for the magic to happen. Your original photo will generate three different painting styles of the effect picture.

3. If you’re not satisfied with the generated result, you can click the Refresh button to generate it again.

4. When there is a failure message, you can also click the Refresh button to re-generate (or use more photos).

5. General styles will generate ordinary cartoon effects, Christmas styles will add some snowflakes and other elements with a Christmas atmosphere, while New Year styles will have traditional New Year elements in the generated pictures.

6.The clearer the face photo you upload, the better the result will be.
