Keep Spring in Your Photos! Flower Theme Editing & Shooting Skills

Last time we learned how to DIY a bunch of flowers out of nowhere using only your hand (if you haven’t read it yet, click here). This time, we will continue to discuss editing and photography skills with a flower theme.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, wearing a mask and avoiding large gatherings has become a part of our ordinary life. But it has left us yearning for nature and fresh air more than ever. While the flowers are now blooming in spring, why don’t we capture their freshness and bring it home with us?

1. Make your photo as exquisite as a magazine cover

If you got the chance to take a little trip to the suburbs, don’t miss out on taking beautiful photos with flowers. Use them as a background like we did in the example below, and then make full use of the Filter, Blur and Text features to make your photo as exquisite as a magazine cover.

Bright pink filters are always good for expressing a Spring-like atmosphere. Here we chose Matte for the photo and then blurred the background a little bit more. Finally, we can study the layout of magazine covers and use Text to create a magazine mockup.

Speaking of text, we usually like to put some small words at the bottom of the cover. Here are some lovely quotes as examples for you to use:

When the layout is finished, I believe that once you post the photo to your Instagram or Facebook Stories, it will get a lot of attention. It’s also perfect to use as your mobile phone wallpaper.

2. Collage of a variety of flowers

Many of you probably prefer to use a photo without a person as your wallpaper. In this case, you can collect many kinds of flowers to keep Spring on your phone! The collage function can also help a lot when one picture is not clear enough or you think the composition of the picture is not good when it fills the screen.

The first step is when you are selecting photos, tap Collage and choose the most suitable aspect ratio and layout. Then choose a filter. For this photo we chose the Rustic filter, which makes the whole screen looks much brighter and soft. Then add some text, like Spring Limited. When you’re finished editing, set it as your lock screen wallpaper and be refreshed every time you open your phone!

3. Try retro flower photos!

If you haven’t had the chance to go out to enjoy the flowers, buying a bunch of flowers could also add vitality to your room. And now, making a photo fresh and bright with a filter has never been easier, so go ahead and try something different!

Roses are always good for retro edits. For this kind of photo, we suggest using Retro filter F2 for the photo, and use a Flare doodle pen to add glitter to it. Simple changes can make the photo totally different.

Now that we’ve talked about photo editing, let’s talk about how to make photos look good from the beginning.

1. Poses

You can not only use flowers for your background, you can also try covering your eyes or some parts of your face with them. Showing the side of your face is another smart way to mix things up.

Or match your clothes with similar colors in nature:

Even reaching out with your hand among the vertically growing flowers can make it look interesting, as if your hand is a friend of these flowers:

2. Sky

Shooting flowers in front of a vast blue sky allows you to have more options when posting or editing the photo. For example, you can use the photo as the background for your keyboard or chat screen.

3. Bring a bunch of flowers to a picnic

Tools are often important for photography.

Maybe there are no flowers on the lawns, in the forests, or at the beaches you go to, but who says you can’t bring your own? Put a bunch of flowers next to some picnic food and it looks good no matter how you shoot!
