That doesn’t mean knowing exactly what your card will look like, but just an overall idea. It will allow you to work on something more specific, because the options are endless and it can become overwhelming!
Decide, for example, if you want to use a photo as a background, or just a pattern, or a solid color. If you’ll be using a photograph at all, and if so, what kind of photo. Will you be writing a long personal message, or just standard greetings? And what is the color palette you’d like to apply, or at least what’s the main color you have in mind for this piece?
An always effective way to get some help with those choices is to explore sources of aesthetic images, like Pinterest, Instagram and other websites. You can find good references to inspire you, and create something unique from it.

Nothing will make your card design more unique than using your own photo, agree? So why not use one as a background for your card? The mood should definitely be something positive, festive, anything that refers to celebrations and good vibes.
Here, I decorated the photo with a few New Year’s stickers to make it more fun. For the message, I went with the basic, in a modern and clean font aligned to the right. An aesthetic filter applied to the whole edit blends everything together perfectly!

In this case, instead of a personal photo, let’s go with a picture from an online stock photo website. There are beautiful options available online with excellent quality. No excuses to settle for bad grainy, ugly images!
